Avelden information

Your information.

How Avelden handles your personal information. Last updated October 31, 2026.

Who we are

Avelden is run by 1614708 B.C. LTD., a British Columbia company. This policy explains what personal information Avelden collects, why, who receives it and the choices you have. Our Privacy Officer answers privacy questions at info@aveldenresearch.com.

Your account

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address and password, and your confirmation that you buy for research use. We store your password only in hashed form, so nobody can read it. We use these details to run your account, show your orders and prevent misuse.

Google sign-in

If you sign in with Google, Google sends Avelden your name, email address and a link to your profile picture. We use your name and email address to create your account or sign you in. We store the picture link with your sign-in record but do not use it. Avelden does not receive your Google password or any other Google data.

Orders

When you order, we collect your shipping address, email address, phone number if you give one, and the products you buy. We use them to process and ship your order, calculate sales tax, send order emails and keep business records. Canada Post receives your name and address to deliver the order.

Payments

Avelden never sees or stores your full card number. Stripe receives your card details directly and processes card payments. CoinPayments processes crypto payments and receives your name, email address and the order amount. For Interac e-Transfer, your bank sends us your name and the amount with the transfer.

Text messages

Texts are optional. If you add a mobile number for the phone offer, you agree to marketing texts from Avelden, up to 4 a month. Twilio texts you a code to confirm the number. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, or STOP to stop texts at any time. Stopping texts does not remove a discount already on your account. As proof of consent, we keep your number, the consent wording, the date, your IP address and your browser type.

Order and account emails

We email you about your account and orders, for example order confirmations, payment reminders and password resets. These emails are part of the service, so they continue while you have an account or an open order.

Marketing emails

These emails are off unless you tick the box when you create an account or on your account page, or sign up with your email in the site footer. When they are on, we may email you product news, lab reports and offers. Avelden also records which product pages you open while signed in, and when. About two hours after a visit, we may email you about a product you viewed, at most once a week. Turning these emails off, from your account page or the link in any of them, stops them and deletes that record. As proof of consent, we keep the consent wording, the date, your IP address and your browser type.

Restock alerts

If you ask to hear when a product is back, we keep your email address and the product. We send one email when it is back in stock, then delete the request.

Browser storage

Your browser stores your sign-in token, your bag, your region and the products you opened recently, so your session, bag and recently viewed list continue when you return. Signing out clears your session and that list. It also stores a note that you saw the sign-up offer, so the offer opens by itself only once. During a crypto payment it stores your bag reference, and during Google sign-in it stores the page to return to. Avelden uses this storage instead of cookies. Stripe's payment form may set its own cookies to detect fraud.

Site analytics and fonts

Vercel Web Analytics counts visits, and Vercel Speed Insights measures how fast pages load. They record the page, the referring site, your approximate location, and your device type, browser and operating system. They use no cookies. Vercel identifies a visit by a hash of the request and discards it after 24 hours. Our fonts load from Google Fonts and Fontshare, which receive your IP address when your browser requests them.

Who receives your information

Avelden does not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run the store, and each gets only what its job needs: Vercel hosts the website, Railway runs our servers and database, Stripe and CoinPayments process payments, Resend sends email, Twilio sends texts and phone codes, Google handles Google sign-in and fonts, Fontshare serves fonts, and Canada Post delivers orders. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, for example under a court order. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information won't be shared with any third parties.

Storage outside Canada

Most of these providers store or process information outside Canada, mainly in the United States. While it is there, courts, law enforcement and national security authorities in that country may be able to access it under local law. We use providers whose terms commit them to protect it.

How long we keep it

We keep order and payment records for six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, because Canadian tax law requires it. We keep account details while your account is open. Product view records last until you turn off those emails, and restock requests last until the email is sent. We keep consent records while your consent lasts and for three years after you withdraw it, as proof. When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove what identifies you.

Security

The site and our providers use encrypted connections. Passwords are stored hashed, and card details go straight to Stripe. Only people who need customer information to run the store can see it. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will tell you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Your choices

You can withdraw consent at any time. Reply STOP to any text, or use the unsubscribe link in a marketing email or your account page. Withdrawing consent stops those messages and does not affect your orders. If you withdraw consent for information an order needs, such as your address, we cannot complete that order.

Access and correction

You can ask to see the personal information Avelden holds about you, how we use it and who received it. You can also ask us to correct it or close your account. Email info@aveldenresearch.com. We reply within 30 days, at no charge. When we close an account, we keep only the records the law requires.

Questions and complaints

Contact our Privacy Officer at info@aveldenresearch.com. If we do not resolve your concern, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia at oipc.bc.ca, or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

Children

The store is for adult researchers. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
